For the record? We would have made a great farming family.

I've been up since 4:45 a.m., when Silas had a bad dream (He woke up crying, "I don't want Daddy to help me eat my cookie!" (All of Silas' bad dreams involve someone trying to 'help' him, which is to say, encourage him to do something he doesn't want to do). By 6:30, when everyone else began stirring, Silas and I had read books, had (my) coffee and (his) soy milk and bagels, and were ready for the day. I went to the grocery store at 7, finished our shopping for the week, and was home by 8. Baked a cake, then joined everyone else outside. Now it's 12:35 - the cake is finished, we spent the last four and a half hours outside, the backyard has been finished (at least the part I set out to do). We've all eaten lunch, and Silas is down for his nap.

We totally could have handled a farming gig.

Yes, you could have. I grew up on a farm, and my Dad already had most of the day's work finished by lunch (except during harvest...when nothing is ever close to finished). Then he'd take a nap and go back out to do evening chores and milk the cows again. A never-ending job. Kind of like parenting small children.

Ha! I've had days like that too. Even though you're exhausted, don't you feel so productive?!
