the old grey mare, she ain't what she used to be.

That, in essence, is what my doctor told me today.

Not exactly - true to his character, he was upbeat and encouraging, focusing on the positives - you're only 32, you take good care of yourself, etc. But the truth is, the effects of pregnancy - in terms of losing iron, ligaments stretching, losing folic acid, and just general wear and tear on your body - are cumulative. So, as my doctor put it, my body is feeling more of the effects of pregnancy right now, at 15 weeks pregnant with my third child (when most of the time I could completely forget I'm pregnant, I feel so good) than it was at 35 weeks pregnant with Asher. Geez. Because ya'll, I was MISERABLE at 35 weeks pregnant with Asher. Right now, I'm feeling great.

Except every now and then, when I crash and burn.

My doctor said I am doing too much. I'm forgetting how hard pregnancy is on my body, and just expecting to be able to do whatever I would normally do. He's totally right. I am doing that.

But here's my question - what, exactly, should I do less of? We're finished traveling for the summer, so that's good. And after this week my work schedule will ease up, and our lives should settle back into a new normal (August always brings new days for playgroups and new days for work/school, as everyone adjusts to a new preschool schedule). So maybe that will help?

In the meantime, I don't know what to say, Baby, except, welcome to your life. It's a circus around here, and it's not slowing down anytime soon. But I'm really glad you're along for the ride. So you do your job and grow, and stay put, and I'll do my job and drink lots of water and feed you plenty of Oreos.

Happy Monday all.

Take a daily nap! Not in a recliner, lay down on the couch or the bed. You may consider not riding the bike on really long rides for now. Take good care of yourself now so you don't pay the price later. I only leave you this advice because I love you!

Linda, I would love to take a nap, but Asher doesn't sleep anymore. And I'm not brave enough to fall asleep and leave a three-year-old with free reign in the house.

Nap. Doctor's (and Mama's) orders. Just give Asher the parameters for quiet time. I'm sure he will be compliant.

wow. wake up call. i have measured the benefits of waiting for a second pregnancy... pay off debt, pay off a car... get a car that will transport a 5 person family... get the twins in free public education before adding a third day care... but gosh..i forgot the whole my body gets older in the meantime "bit" .. no pun intended of course.

ps. thanks for today's advice
