i guess we'll keep him. he'll do.

Asher said a few things Friday that had me cracking up all day. People keep telling me to write these things down, and the truth is, this is typically the place where I do that. So.

1. In the car, on the way to school, we were belting out a little early morning Worship Circle, when Asher said, "Let's just let them sing the song on the radio."

2. In the same car ride, Asher was listening to a song and told me, "They have guitar, drums, and a little bit of bass in that song." This is what it means to raise a musician's children. Every song's lyrical and musical content is described. It always makes me smile.

3. We've started working on basic manners with Asher - respond when you're spoken to, use your fork, etc. I don't care about "ma'am" (which is big in the South but I"m told is a Southern thing), but I do care about looking at someone when they are talking and saying SOMETHING - yes, no, okay, something - in response. Last night at dinner Asher said, "Hey Dad!" and Brian had his mouth full, so he raised his eyebrows and looked at Asher expectantly - a gesture adults all recognize as a sign of acknowledgement. But kids don't, apparently, because after a minute Asher said, "Now you say, 'Yes, Asher?'"

4. At school yesterday, the children painted a picture of a turkey. The bottom of the page said, "I am thankful for _________ " and the teacher filled in each child's page with their response. Asher's said, "I am thankful for Big Red." That would be his fire truck.
