I have been such a slug today I'm not even sure if I have anything interesting to offer, but I'd really like to take down the embarrassing home improvement store moment. Let's move on, eh?
* Silas's favorite times are the moments when I am a slug, because it means I'm not always attempting to do something besides - or in addition to - holding him. He was cute earlier, sprawled out in my lap, belly poking out from under his shirt, watching the squirrels through the sun room window. Content.
* Asher has a new favorite book, Mouse Soup. He really likes the I Can Read (Level 2) series. He also has a few Frog and Toad books (which have sparked some fun memories for Brian and me, as we both grew up reading Frog and Toad) and now Mouse Soup. One of the Frog and Toad stories ends with a great line: "They were two close friends, sitting alone together." Indeed.
* Brian had breakfast with an old friend this morning, and had the kind of conversation that leaves you thinking and talking about it all day. That moment - that kind of conversation - is one of Brian's all time favorite things. He'll be jazzed about it for weeks. I love to see him do what he loves.
* My favorite thing this week has been watching Asher throw the dog's toy (an indistructible, ratty red ball that I try not to touch) through the basketball goal and cheer, "I squirrel! I squirrel!" Squirrel, score, you know, whatever.
With that, I'm off to finish the dishes. Even slugs don't want to wake up to last night's pork chops.
