8-22

We have the 20 week ultrasound this morning.

And can I just say now, for the record, that I will be every bit as excited with a third boy as I would be with a first girl? I feel the need to justify this because of the number of people who keep coming up to me in the grocery store - IN FRONT OF MY TWO SONS - and saying, "When are you due? Are you hoping for a girl this time?" I'm just not sure how to feel about this. Wouldn't a girl be fun? But hasn't a house full of boys already been fun? So that's what I tell them - the multitude who feels inclined to comment on such matters - "We've had a lot of fun with boys so far." What else do you say to such a thing?

In other news, Silas has a cold. It's making him cranky. And making him wake up an hour early.

Which is why, by 7:25 a.m., breakfast long since completed, it took two parents to get him dressed. Motrin has been administered, and I've already looked at the clock TWICE and thought, it's only 7 a.m.?! Sweet Silas - he just doesn't have much tolerance for not feeling well. He's not the cuddle-on-the-couch type; he takes more of the throw-my-juice-cup-at-you approach to colds.

Alas.

In other news, as soon as we leave the ultrasound for our third child, Brian is going to work on buying a minivan. Times, they are a-changin'.

Can I just say that Asher is the most excited about the minivan? Way more excited than Brian or me. He actually CRIED yesterday when we had to return it; we calmed him by telling him banks aren't open on Sundays, but we should get to bring it home forever on Monday - as if he were getting a puppy or something. The boy has been scouting out minivans all week ("That's not a minivan, Mom. It's an SUV" and "There's a minivan! It's a white one!") and when Brian brought one home to test-drive yesterday the boy positively FROLICKED in the back seat.

Hysterical.

So. Ultrasounds, colds, minivans. Big day.

I'll be back soon with news.
