Well I just did something weird.
I just watched Brian and Asher drive away for Nashville. I'm sad to miss the wedding, and it's always sad to be odd man out. I then sat down at the computer, and the first two blogs I saw were Georgia's Mom's (Greetings from South Africa!) and Elizabeth's (Live Blogging from the Philippines). Even two of my neighbors are going out of town this weekend.
But this is the difference for me between 20 and 30. When I was 20, I would have made it work. I would have done whatever it took to do what I had planned this weekend. At 30, I see the wisdom in rest. I see that Silas really does not need to travel this weekend, no matter how much I may want him to (neither of us has had much sleep this week). And I am partly excited about it. I'm going to have popcorn for dinner, get caught up on paperwork, and play with my baby. I'm going to go for a walk. I hope to have lunch with a friend. It's going to be a good weekend - different than what I'd thought, but good nonetheless.
It's Brian you should be concerned about. I was trying to brace him for five hours in the car with a toddler (which he has never done alone). He kept saying, "I'm really looking forward to it! I think it's going to be fun!" Fun like a root canal, or fun like a colonoscopy? Which kind of fun did you have in mind?
So now I'm off to enjoy a quiet house and a little t.v. I'm sure you'll hear more from me soon.

This is very sad, Nick.
Hugs to you, Momma! I just left you a message on your cell...
see the previous post about kids proving their parents wrong. asher and i had a fantastic ride to nashville. he did great. we even sat outside with the moon and ate at chick fil-a. we had a great time. i hope the ride home goes as well.
Brian,
Sometimes, the kids pull out all the stops and surprise you by behaving when you most need it.

It's a Daddy thing, Steph. Corey can have a BLAST with the boys at times I would be pulling my hair out. It's how men come to see the mom-job as easy. The kids ARE easy for them. Drives me nuts.
I was relieved. I've been through the nonstop crying for three hours, until he finally falls asleep the last 30 minutes before we arrive. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, least of all Brian.
