transition

It’s been so long since I’ve written anything more than a variation on stream of consciousness during naptime that I’m a little afraid to try. I don’t know how you do it, you who are writing weighty essays while parenting toddlers. My mind seems to be wholly occupied by Pedialyte and diaper cream. I admire your ability to multithink. Even so, I have a few thoughts banging around, and with any luck they might find their way to paper. So stay tuned - there’s more to this blog than meets the eye.

I have part-time childcare. And I write before the kids get out of bed in the morning. I have cut out newspapers, more than 1/2 hour TV a day, and adult conversation. So, in other words, you're actually probably doing a heck of a lot better at juggling than I am!

I spend a few nights a week at work, and I think there. Odd, huh? But the actions of the night are very repetitive. When my body can take over life, my mind feels free to work. That is why I don't do the sit-still-meditation thing. My body is too distracting. And, Haydn is in SCHOOL now. *happy dance* I tend to write the best when I get home from work and everyone else is asleep. I have always been more creative at night. You still have a baby though, Steph. Your first at that. You have time to adjust and it takes TONS of time to adjust.

I don't have a baby, I have a job that is conducive (at times) to sitting in front of the computer, and a fairly relaxed evening schedule (as of late) and I still don't do anything more brilliant than post pictures of myself as a Simpson. I don't think you have to wade too deep to realize my blog pool is pretty shallow. It happens. I feel like I have good ideas at times (when I'm not at a computer) and then when the time comes I got nothin'.

Maybe you should try your hand at "noir", it is working for Lane! ;-)

Oh, and we eat pasta for dinner. A lot. Today, I have child care and I could make something else or I could write for an hour.

Pasta, it is, then! I think I even have tortellini in the fridge, which should mix things up a bit.
