Hi.

One good thing came from the stomach bug (which did run through the entire house, as I'm sure you had guessed): I discovered Downton Abbey this weekend.

I know the rest of you are already watching it, but I was not. And usually it takes me years - years! - to get on board with anything popular. I started the West Wing on DVD just as it was finishing its sixth season on air. I thought Netflix was a waste of money until a year ago (when I promptly repented for that assumption). I just signed up for Pinterest last week. So for me to hop on the Downton Abbey bandwagon and it's only in its second season - this is progress.

But it's just so good.

However, I don't know if I can go back to waiting for a tv show that is actually airing at a specific time, watching commercials and sitting through an entire episode without pausing it half a dozen times to get another basket of laundry or check on the baby, then waiting all the way until the next week to see the next one.

It sounds so old-fashioned. Imagine me saying this in my best Dame Maggie Smith voice.

Ha! As I just googled her to find out her name (I have been referring to her as Professor McGonagall in my head), I read a clip about Lady (Violet) Granthem's one-liners. My favorite was: "Of course it would happen to a foreigner. No Englishman would dream of dying in someone else's house."

Happy Sunday, all.

lady grantham's one liners are my FAVORITE. AND you can watch season 2 on PBS.com with no commercials. There are 4 episodes right now...so you have a little more time before you have to watch in "real time".
