some things

Is this thing on?

Is anyone still reading here?

I hope so. Soon, soon, I'm going to write again. Real posts, with real thoughts and actual information. For now, though, most of what is in my head is not bloggable. Sadly. Because when I can't write about it, I get ... twitchy. (Yes I could write and not publish. But I don't, because frankly, I don't have that kind of time). Alas.

Since I can't say more, want to hear a few things from my day?

* My Emmy girl is cutting four teeth at one time. No WONDER she's had trouble falling asleep this week. Watching her chew on her fist two hours into a futile bedtime, it occurred to me that maybe her teeth hurt, and I found four little swollen nubs on her gums. Four.

* A few library books have piqued our interest lately. Once you get past Hop on Pop, Dr. Seuss really is brilliant.
Two worth mentioning:

From Oh the Places You'll Go -

The Waiting Place…
…for people just waiting.
Waiting for a train to go
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
or the mail to come, or the rain to go
or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
or waiting around for a Yes or a No
or waiting for their hair to grow.
Everyone is just waiting.

Ever had to wait for something? Doesn't he capture it so well?

Also, the first line of The King's Stilts is the best I've read in any children's book so far:

"Naturally, the king never worse his stilt during business hours." Naturally.

* See this? It makes me laugh out loud every time.

Silas loves to sit in my lap and watch it with me. Mostly I think he likes it because I do; either way, we've had fun with it recently.

* Silas is in the throes of potty training. Wow I hate potty training. But he'll get there. There is no typically developing fourteen-year-old boy who isn't yet potty trained. So, you know, no worries.

What's new with you?

I'm still reading! Always =) Yours is one of the few blogs I check without fail.

"I am your WIFE, I am the greatest GOOD you'll ever know!" Oh if I had a dollar for every time I recited that to David...well, I'd have about 12 dollars, but you get my point. Cracks me up too.
