out takes

Friends, I am tired. Tired in my soul kind of tired. I don't need a power nap or an hour alone for coffee - I need a few days of solace, of respite. And this weekend I'm getting it - I'll have thirty six hours at the beach with Brian and no children, and a few of those I'll spend with our dear Elizabeth and Kris. Yay and hooray. But until this weekend, I got nothing for you.

Except a few pictures. Want to know why child/family photographers make a bajillion bucks for about six hours worth of work? Because it takes TALENT to make children look serene instead of rabid.

Case in point:

in order to get this -

I took about four of these -

(okay, anyone who knows my children in real life, doesn't this picture make you LAUGH? Silas trying to climb down while Asher is yelling at the top of his lungs. Yes. this is my life, right here.)

Maybe my parents will have better luck.

Nope, not so much.

Here we can choose between the one of me with my eyes closed - (my sister had the flu, which explains her absence)

Or the one of my mom with her eyes closed.

Clearly I prefer the latter.

Asher buddy! Smile for the camera!

I can't decide - do Brian and I look happy, or crazed?

Here is the best of the day - the boys were telling knock-knock jokes to my mom and Brian's brother, and the whole thing was just SO CUTE. I wish I could have gotten better pictures of the whole scene, but here is Silas KNOWING he just said something funny, and laughing at his family's laughter. Love it love it.

Not to disappoint those who read the blog solely to hear the latest Silas story (Elizabeth, I'm looking at you) - I walked in to his room today after nap to find the boy standing ON HIS HEAD, with his feet resting against the bars of his crib. Of course by the time I grabbed the camera he was all, "No mama. No head stand. Want apple juice," so this picture is of his protesting the camera, but you get the idea.

I couldn't make this stuff up, ya'll.

Oh what I would do with 36 hours alone at the beach.
I could cry just imagining it.
Enjoy every second.

Cute family pics. Wish I had time to take some....maybe soon.
