live blogging from the couch on Sunday morning

There's obviously been too much Special Agent Oso in our lives lately. Asher has taken to narrating the steps of normal life. Just now: "Step one - hand your plate to your mama. Hurry! There's only three seconds left!"

Oh brother.

I've been thinking lately about how both in Scripture and in the Catholic church, the lives of the faithful are held up as an encouragement to the rest of us. Protestants revere those who speak well, but the Catholic church reveres those who live well. I want to do that more often. Which is why I'm going to tell you a story soon about possibly the most faithful family I know. Their work in serving others while sacrificing their own personal success is such an encouragement to me right now. So stay tuned - a good story, coming soon to a blog near you.

Is anyone else SHOCKED to realize Silas will be two in less than a month? I found a desktop folder that had all of the pictures from Asher's babyhood in it last night. First of all, I really miss the days when my only responsibility was to stare at a baby. What a fun, fun year. No matter how many children we have, I'll never have that experience again, and I'm a little sad about that (both for myself and for future babies). Second, though, it feels like that year happened about fifteen years ago, not three. We've had a lot of life in the past four years. But man we've had a lot of fun.

I mean, look -
Here is January 2009

and April 2008

If I didn't have the pictures, I wouldn't believe they were ever that little. How much MORE will I be saying that when they're 20 and 21?

And with that I'm off. Have a restful Sabbath.

Oh man, it makes you smile and want to cry when you look at those pictures.

I think you might be on to something with the Special Agent Oso routine. I realize you didn't provoke the conversation but you've certainly given me an idea how to put a little pep in Colin's step! We definitely watch our fair share of that show.

Loved the "back in time" pictures. Time flies! I always get teary eyed when I look back in time.
