People keep asking what I'm doing to lose weight. Yesterday afternoon, during "lunch," I laughed at this and thought, come eat one meal out with me, and you'll know how I'm losing weight. I'm wrangling two children, that's how. They are hungry at the same time, so I'm feeding one a bottle while cutting tomatoes for another. And by the time I get everyone squared away and sit down with my own plate, Asher needs seconds, and it's just easier to dish them out from my own plate than go back to the kitchen for more. Then Silas wants to be held, so I'm trying to hold him at such an angle to keep his fingers away from my meal, while delivering more fruit to Asher's plate, and by the time it's over, I realize I'm no longer hungry, and that's good enough. Two babies - that's my diet.

(Here's a bonus and unrelated picture of Silas playing in Asher's room, grinning like he's getting away with something.)

In other news, we are nearing our third anniversary of living back in Alabama, and I realized this week I have become very attached to our house. I haven't been attached to a specific house since we lived in the little house on the prairie, almost 9 years ago. I've enjoyed towns and friends, but not houses, in a long time. But now I love my house, even without an eat-in kitchen. And in the last year a life and circle of friends has sprouted up around me that I also love. Who knew.

Brian's parents bought a swing set for the kids, and Brian and his dad put it together on Monday. The effect was that President's Day was bigger than Christmas at our house this year. Asher woke up saying, "Swing set ready! Grandpa and Daddy open box see what's inside!" He is really enjoying playing outside so much. And Silas enjoyed the box, which was a great hamster-style toy for crawlers.

Silas has an ear infection this week, so this is how I've spent my evenings.

That's all I've got. Happy Thursday everyone.

Absolutely precious! I love the picture of Silas sleeping next to you. That is one thing I miss most about my angels. Kenzie does that when she's sick. Your boys are so beautiful!

You seem always able to catch just sheer joy on Asher's face. I love it.

It means a lot to have a house that you love. While I unabashadly love this city, I'm not in the place where I love my house (aka my basement apartment), but I figure, 1 out of 2 isn't bad. Have fun with the swing set!!!
