I love the (Southern? probably) tradition of hanging family portraits in the hall. I don't know where along the way I picked this up as a good idea, but in my mind, someday our future hall is going to be covered in portraits of existing and future children.

I took Asher to have his pictures made today. Janet took pictures for me in April, but he's in a new stage now, so I took him for his first portrait-type pictures. It was more fun than Christmas. I wish wish wish I had a way to post them, because the kid is seriously CUTE. Anyway, as I was walking out of the studio, roughly 632 pictures of my child under my arm, my first thought was, I'm going to need a bigger hallway.

Which we're working on, actually. We've started the process of house hunting. We're not in any hurry, but it's exciting all the same. In the meantime, I've started my hallway collection.

I no longer have portraits made. *ducks from flying objects* Corey had them made with Haydn when we was about 2. My mother-in-law had pics made of David and Savannah when David was first born. We did a family portrait for the church directory. But, I have NEVER taken David for a single portrait that I can recall. I haven't taken Haydn since he was 18 months. Maybe younger. I prefer the shots I take with my digital camera. I guess I will have school pics starting this year.

Somewhere out there, the mommy police force is gearing up to bust me for being a fraud.

Is that a Southern thing? My in-laws do it and my husband thereby thinks the hallway is the only place for family pictures. I am from New England -- so it seems wierd.

my portrait pictures, along with my 3 sisters, line my mother's hallways.

My parents used to have all our portraits lining the hallway but now they are all smaller and in frames all over the house. The hallway now has a Father Bean original of the painting of the two hands touching. I forget what it's actually called. You know the one from the Sistine Chapel.

My grandparents always used to have pictures of the family in their hallway (not just portraits) I loved to go and look at them for long periods of time.
