from The Corrections

"And when the event, the big change in your life, is simply an insight - isn't that a strange thing? That absolutely nothing changes except that you see things differently and you're less fearful and less anxious and generally stronger as a result: isn't it amazing that a completely invisible thing in your head can feel realer than anything you've experienced before? You see things more clearly and you know that you're seeing them more clearly. And it comes to you that this is what it means to love life, this is all anybody who talks seriously about God is ever talking about. Moments like this."

- Jonathan Franzen

(I don't completely agree with the theology here, but I love the quote, anyway.)

That is one thing that I miss most about living around you guys - the sharing of new music!! I've been checking out some of Deb's stuff and I love what I have heard so far! =) I have also (re)discovered Suzanne Vega and (minus 99 Luft Balloons) have been enamored with her lately

I'm not rereading the book (but anyone out there who hasn't read this book SHOULD, is my opinion). This quote stuck with me when I read it the first time around. I haven't heard Deb Talan ... If you can find anything by Grace Faulkner or Misty Edwards out there, I think you'd like it. Especially Misty Edwards ... she reminds me of Sandra McCracken.

I LOVE 99 Luft Balloons, and until I started working at the Hard Rock, I had never heard that song in English. It's cool, I think.

Also cool, Loretta Lynn featuring Jack White from the White Stripes. Check it out, yo...
